I would prefer a Republic system because if their was a terrible ruler, then we could always vote them out. If their was a really bad king or queen, chances are the next one isn't going to be splendid either. This is so because when there is a ruler, the son learns from the father. If the father did a excellent job as a king them the son will probably inherit the throne as a excellent king. When the king is dreadful king then the son will learn to not be a very good king. When this happens, we have no say in who is going to be the king so if it is a bad one, we will just have to deal with it. If we have a bad president, we can just vote him out and trade him for a good one.

I totally agree with you Abby. A Republic would be better because if you have one person ruling than you have to wait for them to die before you get a new leader. In a republic you can vote to have a new leader majority wins.

I agree with you too Abby. If we have an awful ruler it would stink if we couldn't rule him out. If the current Kings son inherits his father his father might want to set a good example

Abby, you are completely correct, although just because a ruler was bad, it doesn't automatically mean that their child will be a bad ruler, just as a good king doesn't automatically mean that their child will be a good ruler as well. Also, if a bad candidate is running for ruler of a town, yes, we can just vote them out, but sometimes majority rules, and that bad candidate will win the election. Overall, I do agree with you, but there are always the bumps in the road.

Also if it's a Monarchy and the ruler is bad you cant really speak up. If you do decide to speak up the ruler could have you killed.

I agree with Liz because if I was the other president, I would not be too happy if I had a chance to be the queen and then I wasn't. If I didn't get to be a queen and I was much better then the current queen, I would be pretty mad.

I agree with you Liz. A majority vote may not be great because people may choose bad ones (this election). But it´s the voice of the people, and the people will get justice. SPQR really shows this in Rome.

I totally agree with you 100% Liz,because you are right if we have a republic then we all have a voice. You are also right about the people get what they don't want but they still got to vote. I think that people should always have a voice and that is basically what you just said.

I would rather live in a world with a Republic. I want to live in a republic because you get to have a voice and help choose your leader. I also want to be part of a republic because in a Monarchy you don't matter and it's like your a nobody.

I think a republic would be alot better because you can vote for the leader you really want. You could vote out really bad leaders. If a king dies and the son becomes a bad king like his father might have been, we can vote him out and get a lot better king.

I would prefer a republic because everyone gets to vote and you get to choose your leader. Why I don't prefer a Monarchy is because there is one leader and you don't really get to choose. The king or queen can make up rules that you would no like . Also sometimes you wouldnt like the leader

Princeza I agree with your point that in a republic the people can vote on their leader which is the biggest difference between a Monarchy. But what if the candidates in the republic are both bad options? What happens to the large majority of the population whose candidate does not win. They are stuck with ruler they don't like, at least in a Monarchy you do not have the possibility to lose the candidate you want to win. Finally, in a monarchy what if the ruler is awesome that ruler can have power for life. In a republic a president can only be in power for 8 years max which limits his ability to make major changes.

I would prefer my country to be a republic because we can vote for the person we want to be our ruler/president. Also in a monarchy the ruler can get too powerful and be obsessed, that can lead to the fall of the country. In a republic there is a government to help the president with power. The government can veto laws, and has branches to make sure that one branch doesn´t get too powerful.

I would have a republic because it is not 1 to 2 people making all the decisions for us so we get to vote on our decisions! Especially if there was a horrible and mean prince that becomes the King it is going to be a horrible life time! Like this election both candidates are not so good but we would be able to vote them out.

I would want my county to be a republic because each citizen over the age of 18 gets to choose their leader. In a monarchy you don't because the rule is pasted down by family. Lets say that king pasted away and now his son is king. The son is not very smart at all. He makes dumb decisions, putting his country in danger! Thats why i don't like monarchys!

Yes, I agree to Bella because we get to be preident for max 8 years and a monarchy is the same family life long. Yes I know that some people in a family are different but for the most part they would probably think the same as other family members.

I would prefer a country to be a republican country because, there is more freedom. A republican could also be better because there is no strict rule, like there is laws but not so STRICT. Republic country would be more outgoing and free to be yourself.

I would rather live in a republic because one person isnt making all of the decisions. Everyone gets to choose what they want. You can be heard by other people. You dont have to follow one persons rules that you probably dont like.

I would want my country to be a Republic instead of a Monarchy. I would want this because if my country was a Monarchy, I would not be able to choose my leader. In a Republic, I would be allowed to vote for my leader. If everyone does not get freedom to vote for their leader, then a lot of people would not agree with many of the decisions the leader made. I would like the freedom to choose my leader, or leaders.

I would prefer a republic. I would rather everyone have say in the ruler, rather than just having the son or daughter of the King or Queen take their place. It seems to me that the rich people (Kings or Queens) are very selfish and horrible rulers. If I live in a republic I feel like I am listened to a LOT more.

I would want my country to be Republic because we get to decide who are ruler is. It would be so unfair to have the next ruler the son or daughter of the last leader. Also you never know if the son or daughter is going to be good or bad. Like cause destruction or cause a war for no reason. So that's why I would make my country Republic.

Overall, I feel I would like to have my country be a republic, but a monarchy would be nice sometimes, too. I would rather have a republic because everyone has the right to choose their own leader. When it comes to voting, I sometimes feel that a monarchy would be a little safer. This is because if someone won the election, the other candidate could potentially gather up followers, and declare war, and then a civil war would break out. In a monarchy, your leader is already chosen for you.

I disagree with you, Josie, because even in a Monarchy, your leader, or the people in the country, could declare a civil war. If your leader is already chosen for you, people could declare a civil war themselves because they may not like the leader's ideas. The leader may also be a bad ruler, and may try to create a civil war.

I think a republic is right because it uses the voice of the people. Anyone over the age of 18 would be able to vote on a person who still does not have full control of the country. Even in this election, the people can overrule him/her. Overall, I think a Republic is better than Monarchy.

I honestly think a republic would be better. (like everyone else was saying.), because in a monarchy, the one in charge might only care about himself, or a certain group of people.(*cough cough* patricians). In a republic, everyone can vote and choose their leader, but it doesn't mean it has its down sides...

I think a Republic is better than a Monarchy because you get to vote for different people with different opinions. The Republic would also be fair for the people more than a Monarchy because the people's voices would be heard on what they want in a ruler.

I feel a Republic would be much better than a Monarchy for my country. The great thing about a Republic you can chose your leader. If there is a Monarchy, there's a high chance of them not giving my country the help they need, or they use their power in advantage to do cruel things.:D

I agree with you Connor that if the country would have to pick between a monarchy or a republic I would also pick a republic.I also agree that it is a great thing to chose your leader and that in a republic you are very lucky to vote on who you want as a leader. I also don't like monarchy's because the leader can be cruel and take advantage of his rights as ruler, and I don't think that they should use their rights or power of ruling and being king/queen against people or have to much power.

I would really want the country to be a republic because in a republic the majority of votes wins. The main reason of why I would not want a monarchy would be because we don't get to choose our leaders, Our leaders are already chosen and can not be changed until they get very old. Also in a monarchy the leader could gain too much power and treat people badly.Unlike a monarchy , in a republic you get to choose your leader and your leader gets changed every couple of years so you don't stay with the same leader for a lifetime. Also in a republic you have more choices of a leader not just one choice, then the person that was voted the most will win and become the leader.I also think that a republic is the closest to our Democratic Government than a monarchy.

I would want a country with a republic because you can choose the leaders. Right now the election is going on, we get to choose the leader we want. There are 2 or more choices and the people get to vote for who they want for the leader. Some people may not get there way but a majority gets what they want.
