I feel thatpercicution of people is wrong, even if they follow a different religion than I do. I feel this because I feel that people need a good reason to be punished, like stealing, and even then, the consequences don't need to be awful. Just something like jail time, or higher tax rates for a month, or something like that. Also, many to most people follow the religion that their parents follow, so punishing someone for their beliefs is like punishing someone for who they were born to, which I think is silly, and is also something that a person can not control. People should be free to choose their religion.
I agree with you Josie. Just because the Christians believe in something different than you doesn't mean you punish them! They can believe in whatever they want.
I agree with you Josie. people shouldn't be punished for silly things like the person you were born from like you said. And even if they do need to be punished, it shouldn't be as harsh. Over all you are right that persecution is wrong and that people should be free to choose their religion.
I agree with Josie. I think people should be free to practice any religion, as long as they are not hurting other people. Punishing people for their does not seem fair if they are not bothering other people and worshiping who they believe in.
I agree with you Josie because many people do follow their own beliefs and religion. some people should have felt how it felt for the people who got persecuted.
I agree with you, Josie, because there are much more important things to be punished for than what you believe in. If people were always being punished for what they believed in, then it would be harder to punish people for things that matter a lot more, like stealing.
I agree with Josie. someone shouldn't be punished for who they are or who they're born to be. This is similar to the Caste System in India.
Yes, and I do totally agree but what if you were the emperor and someone was doing something against what you had in mind as the set religion? Would you discipline them? I might get mad at them.
I think that persecution is wrong in every way. People shouldn't be punished for what they believe in, even if they believe in something different than me. people can believe in what ever they want because they don't know for sure that there isn't only one god.
I agree with you, Chryenne. No one knows for sure what happens to us when we die. Will we go to some sort of afterlife? Will we be reincarnated? Will there be nothing after death? Is there one God, or more? Or is there none? Humans have no proof to any of this, do persecution makes no sense. What if what the people believe in that religion are right, and you persecute them? What will that mean for you when you die? Like the Romans said, better be safe than sorry.
Yes Cheyenne I agree with you persecution is wrong in every way. And no way should someone be punished for their own belief.
I agree, I mean how would you feel if you were punished or your beliefs. Lets say you live in Rome and You follow the Roman Gods. our bet friend is a christain and she ids going to die beacuse of her beliefs. It is wrong.
I believe the persecution of people based on their religion is wrong, whether or not it is my belief. I think it is wrong because you need to respect other religions. Many people were born and raised into their religion and do not know about other religions, and therefore, believe what they are taught. I think other religions are good, as long as it teaches people to be kind to one another.
I agree with you Zack T. because you grow up with your religion so why would you have to change. And punishing people to believe in their religion they are going to be mad and still not believe in there gods.
I agree with you Zack T because even if you don't practice the religion doesn't mean that you have to destroy some of the religions population. Also you are born what your parents are so most likely going to stay that religion
I think it persecution is wrong, and just because you believe in something doesn't mean I have to. Like if the teachers only gave homework to Christians. Pause if you were born and raised into that religion it's not very fair. Also it's not like your religion is to punish someone who doesn't believe in that religion. Even if someone doesn't believe in what you believe in doesn't mean you punish them. Most of my friends are Christians but I'm still friend with them and their still friends with me even tho I'm not a Christian.
I strongly agree with that statement. Wether or not you believe in the same religion as someone else should not change their thoughts about you. Yeah, maybe there is only one god, or maybe there is many, different people have different thoughts about that concept. You must let people believe in what they want to believe in. No one is identical, everyone is different and that is how it's going to stay.
I think it is very wrong to have persecution. I think it is wrong because you get to choose what you believe in and what not. It is also unfair because your forcing them to believe in your beliefs which is not right. You should believe in what ever you want.
I agree Kevin because I have been judged in my old school because everyone there was not christian. The teachers even said that I believed in the wrong religion. That is why I moved here.
I feel it was not right for persecution in Rome.In Rome they believed in many gods but other religions didn't believe in the gods the Romans believed in. So Roman citizens persecuted other religions for their beliefs and religion.
I don't think it is right at all for people to be punished for their beliefs. I mean way back then, you weren't free like we are today. You didn't get to do whatever you wanted. You were told to do something and told when to do it. So back then, I can't really say wether it was right or wrong. But nowadays, absolutely not. We live in a free country where we are free to do whatever we want, whenever we want to do it. If we want to believe in something different from what the other people believe in, we can, and we won't be punished for it.
I agree with Tommy that if that happened now the people that were punishing them would be punished themselves. This would make people not want to do it.
I strongly agree. Since we now get to do more things then people could in the past, one of those things is the freedom of religion. Since punishment was cruicial back then, it guided peoples minds into different directions of what they are doing. It sounds very cruel, but very true
I agree with you Tommy T. because it is wrong for them to do that. Until the one emperor got baptised they then realized that it was not bad to have one or more gods.
I believe that the persecution of people due to religious beliefs is wrong. You should be able to believe whatever you want, even if others do not agree with what you believe in. If you are punished for what you believe in, this could have a negative affect and others might not want to believe in what you believe in, because they might not want to be punished for believing in that.
I think persecution is wrong not only in Rome, but anywhere. If somebody has a different religion, you shouldn't punish them, because if your religion is correct, then they'll not have a long afterlife. So they're punishing people in there life because (they think) they'll get punished in afterlife.
(Punished for possibly being punished in the future).
I agree with Miles because it could happen anytime and anywhere. Someone would not enjoy their afterlife. This does not just happen in Rome.
I think persicution is very wrong. It is not right to punish people for their beliefs because most likely they were doing nothing wrong. Even if they were following a different religion it is still wrong to punish people for their beliefs.
I think it was wrong for, not just the Romans, but everyone to persecute anyone of any religion. Just if they don't believe in what you believe in, or you don't like what they believe doesn't mean you can persecute them! Even if they aren't my religion I wouldn't persecute you, it's mean, selfish, and just plain wrong.
I totally agree with you I mean persecuting someone for what they believe in is just messed up. plus I think that if you persecute someone for their beliefs you are a big bully.
I think it is wrong for persecution on Christians.Just because of their belief does not mean you can punish them for it. If you believed in a different god and got punished for it wouldn't you say something to someone.
I don't think that persecution for being Christian was right. If u put yourself in a Christians shoes back then you would now that they were in so much pain, they were in pain for doing nothing wrong. If they weren't worshiping the right God that would be there fault and persecution wouldn't change their beliefs.
I think it is completely wrong to persucute someone just because of religous beliefs. I know in Roman times, they saw it as right to do so, but now, we see it differently. Since where we are we are free, we were raised to seeing different religons together in peace. Though in other countries there aren't, the way of perspective is what affects the answer to this question.
I totally agree with you giovanna because I think its completely wrong to persecute someone because of there belief. And I also agree that were raised to seeing peace between different religons to. that is why I agree with you.
I think that people being persecuted because of their beliefs is wrong because if people were to execute you then it could lead to a war. Even if the beliefs were all different, then I would teach them my religion. If they didn't want to learn my religion, then I would be disappointed but my religion says to not persecute others.
I agree with you Abby, persecuting others because they believed in the things they did, would start many more wars within the current ones that were going on at the time. Also, you should spread you're religion you believe in too, because then that may help them unite together as one whole community, which could help them.
I think it is very wrong to persecute someone because of there belief. Back then they probably thought it was fine but it was NOT. And its fine if there beliefs are different from yours, just we all have to treat each other equally.
I think that it's not right to persecute someone just because of their beliefs. I think this because it's kind of just like nowadays where you should do you as long as it makes you happy and it is safe. Even if their beliefs are not the same as yours, that should be okay because no person is the exact same, even if you are twins. Nobody will always have the exact same opinion on topics or beliefs as you and that's good, because it's individuality and we need that in our current society.
I agree with you Katie because people should believe what makes them happy. People should not believe what someone else wants them to believe just so they don't get hurt or made fun of. People should do what makes them happy.
I agree with you Katie because nowadays if your happy that's all that matters. But back they it was whatever Floated The empires boat. But what if you were grown into the religion you believe in, you can't help that. Also if you do believe in a religion and you found out you were getting punished for what you believe in I don't think you would just stop believing in it over night.
I believe that persecution of a persons belief is a wrong thing to do. But back then whatever didn't suit them well of course make them want to do something bad or rarely just leave it alone. And just because that person believes in something else doesn't mean you treat them differently, always be fair and never lie and steal.
I believe persecution of someones beliefs is wrong because you are telling them what to believe and what not to believe your telling them what to think. Also I think its wrong because what you believe is not what everybody else believes. Your believes and religion is not the "right " religion or belief. Finally people can follow what every they want who cares if they believe in one god or many gods you don't know which religion is the "right" religion.
I totally agree with you liz. I agree with you because you are right they were basically telling other people what they can and can't believe in and it was not rite it was so wrong. Also there is no right religion and you are so right every one believes in their own thing and obviously they didn't think there were many religions there was only one religion to them back then in ancient Rome.
Persecution is wrong! If you persecute someone for their beliefs its wrong because they could torture you for your beliefs. Everyone should be able to be safe from harm and not get hurt for what they belive in.
People shouldn't be persecuted for their religious beliefs. It is what they believe and it does not affect you, unless it is causing physical harm. If their belief is different than mine we should try to talk it out, but still live in peace.
I think that is totally awesome that you can think in such a nice peaceful analogy
I think that persecution is really screwed up and that IF YOU THINK THAT YOU SHOULD DO SUCH A HORBLE THING YOU SHOULD BE KILLED ON THE SPOT IN A ORDELY FASHION WITH PERCISION NEVER SEEN BEFOR WIPED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH LIKE THE SCUM YOU LIVE UP TO BE
I think that the persecution of people because of their beliefs was totally wrong .I think this is wrong because you are basically saying that you aren't the same religion as me soju that's wrong and you are going to die now. If their belief was different from mine then I wouldn't judge them I would just say lets put our differences aside and we can still be friends.
I agree with Julia because persecution is wrong . I agree that people should not be punished for their beliefs and you can't just tell someone that your religion is correct and theirs is wrong and punish them because they could do the same to you.
I think persecution is wrong and that people should not be punished for their beliefs because we should all have freedom to believe anything we want to believe .I also believe that if you believe something different than I do I would treat you equally than anyone else. If you are against someone's beliefs you do not have to punish them for what they believe in. Think about it if someone who has a different religion decided to persecute all the people that believe what you believe?
I think it is wrong because, you believe in what you believe in, and if you kill someone because of their religion, you will be murdering innocent people.
