I think that the walls of Great Zimbabwe were most impressive because everybody thought it was used for defense but what really shocked was that money is to the Romans the walls were used to show the king and the royal family's wealth and power in the Great Zimbabwe dynasty.

I agree, Great Zimbabwe's walls, in my opinion, were very impressive. I think it is really interesting that the walls weren't used for defense like most empire's walls in that era. It was a really creative idea to have the walls symbolize their power, if you think about it.

I think that Great Zimbabwe was the most impressive because they did not use the walls for defense . They used the walls to show the royal families wealth and power . Also to separate the royal families from the commons . So over all Great Zimbabwe was the most impressive kingdom to me .

I think that Great Zimbabwe's walls were the most impressive. They were a unique way to symbolically show the power of the ruling family. It was also a really great acomplishment to build the wall considering they didn't use anything to hold the rocks together.

I agree with Haley because this was a different and unique way of showing their power. It is also very cool they built them without using anything to hold them together. Great Zimbabwe is the most impressive to me as well.

I agree that Great Zimbabwe was more impressive. Who would think that the wealthier you are the thicker and higher the walls are, if you would have told me that I would have said you are crazy

I agree with Haley. I also think that it was a very creative choice for them to make the walls symbolize their power, instead of using the walls for protection.

I think the most impressive were the Great Zimbabwe walls. They were so wealthy and powerful that they didn't even use these for protection they used them to express their wealth and power. I find this a very unique way to express power.

I think the most impressive one would Ethiopia's great red volcanic churches. They had to dig 30 feet deep trenches and then have to make out of volcanic red rock! For those reasons, I believe that Ethiopia's red volcanic rock was the most impressive.

I agree with you Aidan. I think the most impressive out of these 4 was the red volcanic churches. These builders had to dig so deep underground in order to make this. Plus they are very cool and unique

The stone walls of Great Zimbabwe are cool, but not as cool as the volcanic churches. I also think it's amazing how there isn't one straight edge.

I think that Ethiopia's churches was the coolest accomplishment. It was amazing that they used volcanic rock from the ground and built up from there. It is also cool that they made multiple of the churches. They made a total of 11 churches!

I found all 4 of the African kingdoms to be fascinating. However, I think the stone churches of Ethiopia to be the most impressive. I think it is crazy how they were able to dig their way down 30 or more feet to build/ hollow out a stone church. They made it out of stone due to the lack of building resources, this shows that the Ethiopians were extremely resourceful. A close second for me was Kilwa. Kilwa is cool because they did so much trading that a new culture and language developed that still is used in 2 different countries today. The walls of Great Zimbabwe are cool but everyone builds walls, not everyone builds a stone church into the ground. Finally, the masks and artwork of Benin express cultural ideas but again cannot compete with a church built out of volcanic rock. I am not even sure if there are other underground churches like this in the world. This makes the Ethiopian churches even more unique in my opinion.

I agree all of them are fascinating Kilwa for their trade on the Indian Ocean, Benin for their art, Ethiopia for their massive volcanic red churches, & Great Zimbabwe for their stone walls. I wish some people would do what Mansa Musa did and cross the Sahara Desert.

I agree with Mr. Kaciubia. The churches they built were so amazing, They dug into the ground to show their love for God and their commitment to Christianity. It also showed that they were very resourceful because they used the ground below to build these churches.

I agree with Mr. Kaciuba about the 4 kingdoms however, I sadly and sorry, but I disagree with his favorite one, I personally liked Benin though, like I said in my actual blog. I really liked the art, and what they made like finger pianos, those masks, and all of the instruments they made.

I think they are all awesome Kilwa was best known for their trade on the Indian Ocean, Benin is best known for their art, Ethiopia is best known for their massive volcanic churches, & Great Zimbabwe is best known for their stone walls. They show how good Africa could be if the Sahara was not so big and if it was not a desert.

I think there is no real best accomplishment. It is out of opinion, but if I had to choose one, it would have to be Ethiopia's churches. It showed how important religion was to them, and how important God is in Ethiopia.

I agree with Annabel that all of these societies had very different things they were known for. But I too believe that because of the resourcefulness of the churches, they should be considered the most impressive.

I think that the most impressive would be Ethiopia's volcanic churches. I think that it would be extremely difficult to make churches out of volcanic rock. The churches look really well made too.

I think Ethiopia was because they dug 30 feet into the ground to build a church which is astounding. They made the churches out of stone. And around it was molten rock.

I think that Benin was the best because personally i like art, and I thought that there art masks were very impressive, I also think that there tiny finger pianos were AWSOME too. I loved benins art and I thought it was very impressive when I first seen it and I still do. If they would have made masks that actually can be wore, I would buy one and where one.

I think that Great Zimbabwe was the most impressive. I think this because they built giant walls that you would think they would have been used for protection, but they were actually used to show wealth, and power. That was also very unusual back then for a kingdom to build walls that were not used for protection purposes.

I think that Great Zimbabwe was the most impressive. Most would've thought that their stone buildings were used for protection, but it was a unique way to show the power of the ruling family. It was very different than what other civilizations would have used stone walls for.

I think that all of these were a magnificent feat, but I think that the volcanic churches built by King Lalabela were the most impressive. It was built in a way that conserved time, energy, and material. When he built the church into the ground, it was easier than to bring material and build up. It was also a very unique way for them to show God's power. Also it was an easy way for travelers to identify their religion, Christianity.

I think the most impressive is Ethiopia and its volcanic rock churches. First of all it is just amazing how they look. The architecture in the buildings were amazing. Also they built 11, most people would just stop at one. And finally they were dug underground, and they are volcanic.
