I think the Republic is better because it is fair to the people of Rome. Where the Monarchy on the other hand is unfair to the people.
I agree with Jack because the patricians had the favoritism of the rulers, but the plebs were treated unfairly. In the republic the plebs and patricians had to make decisions together. Causing both the rich and poor to cooperate with each other.
I'd rather live in a country is a Republic because you will be able to vote. It will also be a lot easier
I would want a republic because then more people are happy, If more people are happy then there is less revolts which means less fighting. in my opinion peace is key when growing an empire.
I agree, though not everyone will think peace is key. Sometimes the only way out, is through. (war)
I agree. A country at war would cause the country to collapse financially, cripple their military, and the king or queen would keep going with it. It is important to know what the leader wants to do first, before we elect them.
But like if people will just be going to war EVERY SINGLE SECOND. Then they can be able to maybe be friends or allies so they could all be in peace.
I agree because then we would have the persons thoughts and concerns.
I think that a monarchy is easier because one person chooses, but in a republic every citizen gets a vote while taking longer to pick stuff. I prefer a republic. :)
I agree! While a Monarchy is easier, it would be better to be able to vote for your leader. :)
I agree with Lidia and Jamie. I think this because there would not any disagreements. Even with the Punch Wars Rome was easily tricked because of the 2 consuls disagreement. They even had to vote for dictator as a last resort. But it is always nice to have a choice even if there is a small chance you will get what you want.
I would rather live in a Republic, because I would want my opinion to be heard. In a Monarchy, only the king or queen get to make decisions. They only look out for themselves.
I agree because the queen and the king shouldn't make the decisions for us. In a republic you can vote for what you want not what the king and queen want.
I agree because I want my opinion to matter in the choosing of a leader so we have a better chance of not just getting someone who only wants power and cares for himself.
I agree because I believe that every voice counts as one final thought.
I agree because I want the right to vote or chose my leader. The king and queen only care for themselves and they get to make all of the decisions
Mary I agree with your point that in a republic the people can vote and your opinion would be heard. This is after all the biggest difference between a Monarchy and a republic. But what if the candidates in the republic are both bad options? What happens to the large majority of the population whose candidate does not win. They are stuck with ruler they don't like, at least in a Monarchy you do not have the possibility to lose the candidate you want to win. Finally, in a monarchy what if the ruler is awesome that ruler can have power for life. In a republic a president can only be in power for 8 years max which limits his ability to make major changes.
I agree because I like my voice being heard, not ignored
I would rather have a Republic country, the people get to choose who can lead. Even if not everyone's vote is counted, it is better than having only one person who we may think doesn't deserve to lead us. We would still have to obey them, or revolt.
I believe that a Republic would be better. It would be better because you have the choice of who you would like to lead the country. While a Monarchy is a lot easier, I would rather be able to choose who I would want to lead.
I agree with Jamie, even though in a monarchy the dicisions could be made more quickly; I also prefer to vote for the people who deserve the position.
I would prefer a republic over a monarchy. I think it would be better because 1. we would have background knowledge on the person we elect. 2. a monarchy would cause some people to become way too powerful, and cause misery in wherever they are. 3. It allows people to have way more variety with their leaders.
I agree with Ryan because 1. If we had more knowledge on who we would elect, it would mean we would know more of who she/he is. 2. Having someone with TOO much power, it wouldn't be fair too everyone else. 3. We would be able to CHOOSE who we want to lead. Those are my reasons why I agree with you Ryan.
I would choose Republic. I would do this because then I would be able to vote. But of course not me specifically, because I would not be a citizzy in Ancient Rome. Even if it is a small chance you will get exactly what you want you can hope that other people agree with you. This also gives there a little bit of a smaller chance of somebody that you don't like being incharge. There is also more of the people's opinion in ruler because the citizens are voting on who. The rulers will think more of others then just the rich people. Even if it is just men who own property voting that is better than nobody voting.
I would choose Republic again ( I need to do a better explanation)
because everyone could vote their leaders and I know, not everyone will get what they want but they would be able to vote on it. So at least they get a chance to prove/get what they want. And not everyone will agree with you everyone has their own thoughts and experiences. Though you have the smallest chance of getting what you want maybe other peeps would want that particular choice that you also want. I mean in Ancient Rome, I would not be able to vote because 1. I'm a child and 2. I'm a girl so I would not be able to vote any way.
I agree, at least every one at least gets a try at getting their leader picked. Even though you have a small chance of getting what you want.
I believe that a Republic would be better because it would be that its not just the rich deciding everything. However with a republic everyone is heard and everyone who has an opinion will matter in the bigger picture. So even if you don't like the choices you are not forced to go one way. So you can choose who you believe would make it a better place.
I fell the Republic would be the better place to live because then you would have more rights than the Monarchy.
I feel that we should have a republic because we could choosing our own leaders unlike the monarchy. It would be fair and legal. Although the downsides are that your leader may not be picked and there might be problems during the election, take our presidential election so far.
I would prefer a republic because if would be more fair. What I mean is that let's say a new law is " You MUST go to war," people would be able to vote on if they want it to be a law or not. It's better to vote then to have ONE person choose everything.
I would prefer a republic the same way. It would take longer, but everyone that is a citizen deserves a right to choose.
I would rather have a Republic because, in a republic the people get to vote. Also there are more than one person to help rule over the land. Though monarchy is easier when it comes to decisions; I believe its better for the people to vote for their leaders.
I would prefer to live in a Republic because we have more rights then people that live in a monarchy. it is better and more fair if we vote on whom we want unlike if we had one person do and choose everything. Also I would want my opinion to matter in the choosing of our leader so we could get a better chance on doing what we want other then someone who only wants power for them self.
I would like to live in a Republic because I want my voice to be heard. If the king and queen made all of the decisions, then none of the residents would be as happy as they would be if they could at least vote, and have a chance of getting what they want.
