How are the towns cool if you don't give enough detail about the cool towns. I cant agree with you because you don't have enough detail to support how Great Zimbabwe is more successful. How did the height of the walls make it so amazing and spectacular. Just wondering give more detail next time.

I disagree with you Jack, I believe Great Zimbabwe was the least successful. Here is why. Even though great Zimbabwe was great in trade the empire didn't last long and the did not have very strong army forces. They were taken over easily by another trade group.

I agree that great Zimbabwe is the most successful but why does the amazing walls make the great Zimbabwe the most successful? they had good trade and a cool way to build their walls, which I find very successful.

I can agree with you Jack, but not in the way you stated. I think it could've been a successful empire because of the walls and how it symbolizes power in the king. If a neighbouring clan decided to try to attack them, they would see the walls and realize that they might have very strong weapons because of the wall.

I disagree, Great Zimbabwe did have great walls, but they weren't in use of defense. Meaning they could easily be broken, weakening their defense.

I do agree with you Angela because say there is tribal war. If an enemy tribe member were to come up and bash the wall with a club it would fall down.

I agree with you, Jack. I think that Great Zimbabwe was probably the most successful, they had the interesting walls which were put together, just placed. They also had lots of gold, which made trading successful, making the civilization survive.

I strongly disagree with you because you did not explain what there "cool" towns looked like becasue in order for me to agree with you you have to add more detail and be specific with what you mean by "cool" town.

I think Ethiopia is the most successful because they build amazing churches one of them where built under ground 30 ft deep. Ethiopia was mostly famous for their churches but the main religion is Christianity. King lalibela build rock-hewn churches.

I think Kilwa was the most successful because they created Swahili. Swahili is a mixture of African and Arabian cultures and languages. By creating Swahili, it was much easier for the Kilwa Africans and Arabs to trade.

I agree! Swahili is taking basically two completely different languages and combining them to almost one new different language, even if it sounds similar seems to me like the most successful because of the chance to be able to trade with people that have salt and other goods helps more people in Africa get fresh, preserved food.

I agree! I believe that Kilwa was very successful because of Swahili. If they never invented Swahili, they wouldn't have been as successful. They were able to change their kingdom for the better by trading with Arab Muslims.

I agree with Brisy, Lidia, and Jamie. I agree with them because if Swahili was not made through trade of the Africans and the Arabs then Kilwa would have a lot less money. They also got more money because, Kilwa also taxed the Muslims when they came into Kilwa and when they exited Kilwa. Kilwa got lots of money from taxing traders coming into Africa. Swahili also made trade with the Arabs much easier and quicker. This is why I agree with Brisy, Lidia, and Jamie.

I believe that Kilwa was the most successful because they created the Swahili culture. If they never created this, they probably wouldn't have been as successful in trading. They created Swahili so that they could trade with the Arab Muslims. They got bits of their culture and made the kingdom of Kilwa better. Swahili was very helpful for Kilwa to be able to trade and make the kingdom better in many ways.

I agree with Jamie! Africans and Arabs traded a lot, so their languages and cultures merged together and TA DA!!! Created Swahili. Swahili did make it easier to communicate and trade.

I think that Benin is the most successful. I believe this because, the City of Benin turned into the Empire of Benin. The Empire of Benin was the strongest African Empire and was the longest living African Empire.

I think that the most successful African kingdom would be Kilwa because they created the language swahili. Swahili helped a lot of people with communicating and tradeing. Tadeing is what helped put the kingdoms on top.

I think Kilwa was the most successive because of their trade, they were able to trade by the Indian ocean, and trade with India, China, even Indonesia. By trading, they were also able to develop the culture, Swahili. This I find most successive.

I think that Great Zimbabwe was the most successful because they had a large amount of gold and got wealthy fast. The giant walls were not for protection , but to show who was in power and was the most wealthy. Great Zimbabwe with the gold were able to trade with other civilizations and reach their needs for survival.

I think that the Kilwa empire was the most successful. I think this because of their wealth and trade. The Kilwa empire was wealthy because they taxed traders when they came into Kilwa and when the traders left. The traders did not really have a choice though, because Kilwa was in control of both the gold and the salt trade. The Kilwa are famous for trading with the Arabs using Swahili. Swahili was a language and culture made by many years of trade between Africans and Arabs. Instead of using silent barter like the people of Ghana the people of Kilwa used Swahili to trade with the Arabs. This why I think that the Kilwa was the most successful out of the four empires.

Also, the reason Kilwa was the most successful is because of their massive amounts of trade. Many merchants came bringing riches because of the massive amounts of gold in trade of iron and other goods. Making them the most successful.

I think Kilwa was the most successful because the created the Swahili culture which is a mix of Kilwa Africans and Arabian cultures. Creating Swahili allowed both the Kilwa Africans and Arabs to communicate easier. What did communication help with... TRADE! Since they were able to talk to each other everyone knew what each other wanted so they could agree or disagree on a trade.

I think Kilwa was the most successful because they created a culture unlike Great Zimbabwe,Ethiopia, and Benin they only where famous for their creations in their culture. I believe that constructing a culture is a lot harder than building churches, walls, ect.

I find Kilwa to be the most successful because they developed the Swahili language. They also lasted for 700 years whereas Benin lasted for 500 years, Great Zimbabwe lasted for 250 years, and Ethiopia lasted for 763 years. I think that even though Ethiopia lasted 63 years longer than Kilwa did, Kilwa created a language still used today.
