The Dark Ages was a miserable time in Medieval Europe. Life around the Mediterranean, after the fall of Rome, seemed to have gone from bad to worse! What do you think was the worst thing about the Dark Ages? (Lack of Government and authority/law, regression of advancements when compared to Rome, disease, lack of education, life expectancy dropping 10 years of age, constant war, other things...). Explain Why!

I think that the worst part about the dark ages was the bubonic plague. This is one of the main reasons that the life expectancy dropped. People began to start dropping like flies. One morning, you could be with your wife and family hauling your wagon of crops back to your house (which was normally potatoes) to feed everyone. The next morning, they could all be dying or dead.

I agree the bubonic plague is the worst part about the Dark ages. Its true one morning you could be working and then the next day you could be dying.

I agree as the bubonic plague did kill millions and it also did kill of many of the animals they had which led to there being less food for people to eat

I do agree, the bubonic plague wiped out about half of the population. And it affected the emperor, causing him to go mentally ill.

I agree! Many people were dying because of the bubonic plague. It killed about half of the population. Just like he said, you would be living your normal life and then next thing you know, you could be dead.

I think that the worse thing about the Dark Ages was the diseases. People of Europe had almost no chance of surviving. If you had kids or family, sickness would kill most of them. Like the Bubonic plague, which was spread through trade on boats which would go to humans from infected rats from infected fleas. It started in Asia and because of trade, infected animals would be traded with the Holy Roman Empire, which caused many people to be massacred.

I agree with you Lidia. Now, of course the disease was one of the biggest things about the dark ages... but what if it was one of the better parts about it. Since people were dying left and right, businesses were having to pay their workers more money. This meaning that by the slim chance you were still alive, you could make mass profit.

I agree with you all the way. If you lived with ten people either five or six of them would get the plague and die.

I think the worst thing about the Dark ages was the bubonic plague. I think its the bubonic plague because millions of people died from this disease. Back then there was no cure for the bubonic plague so a lot of people died from it. Some people didn't die from the plague but most people did.

I agree with with Miah. The Bubonic Plague spread fastly. Because of it, Europe went into total lock down, blocking out any trade. That caused Europe to run out of food. Then, the people that weren't sick starved.

I agree because it killed around 20,000,00 people. It made the times hard for living and for family and made the time a lot darker. The people that died from the plague had really bad side affects and were in excruciating pain for along time so they had a terrible death. I would never want to live in this time because you would be in so much pain.

I agree with you, Miah, because it wiped out a quarter of the population. I can't believe it all started with rats that had fleas.

I agree! The Bubonic Plague was really bad. It killed a lot of people, and no one did anything to stop it.. It spread fast and caused traders and people near the trade ports to get sick first. It would spread until the almost everybody was sick. The people who survived, were not okay and caused problems as well.

Their was a lot of really bad or poor stuff going on but I think the worst is the fighting. Barbaric and other tribes would get into physical combat for small insignificant reasons. But the locals or the people who lived in some areas were caught in the middle of all of this fighting. Inacent people were getting heart because they were just in a bad location. Or the peoples crops or animals would get destroyed or killed. Which was really bad because the people needed all they had to survive they did not make extra. So many people got heart because of the lack of order. This is what I think was the worst.

I agree with Catherine because these wars hurt so many people for thirty cattle. This was INSANE! Also, as Catherine stated, people's crops were destroyed simply because they live near "the enemy."That's why I agree.

I think the worst thing of the dark ages was the bubonic plague. I think this because it wiped out half the economy and killed lots of people. It all started from the rats and the bugs that lived on them.

I agree with Olivia because yes the Bubonic Plague killed lots and lots of people. It wiped out about 10,000 people a day for four months. But, I do not think that the Bubonic Plague was the worst part of all of the Middle Ages. I think it was more of the worst part for the Byzantium Empire and Constantinople. There was Barbaric tribes that went very well during the Bubonic Plague. The Vikings also were doing good, for themselves, while Constantinople was dealing with the Bubonic Plague.

I think the constant wars was the worst because nobody was really safe, especially from those darn vikings. Many things resulted because of the constant wars like lack of education and less art. I believe the factor of constant wars was what made the dark ages a whole lot darker.

I think the worst part was the plague. It completely destroyed civilizations, wiping city after city of half of their people. The economy might have been high because of this because there were less workers, but even if you got paid more because of the plague, the very thing that helped you get that wage had a fifty percent chance of killing you.

I think the bubonic plague was the worst part of the dark ages. The bubonic plague wiped out about or more than half of the population, and those who survived turned mentally ill. Towns became isolated in order to stop the spread of the disease, but it was devastating.

I think the Bubonic plague was the worst because of all the effects it had on Europe after millions died. It had effects that eventually will effect us in the smallest bit. Today, if the Bubonic plague never happened the population would be rising even more than it already is.

I think out of all of the things that have happened in the dark ages, the bubonic plague was probably the worst. The bubonic plague was extremely dangerous to the people of Europe. Getting infected with this virus mean certain death. It has also wiped out nearly half the population!

I think the worst part about the Middle ages was there was barely any government to do anything to protect the people. So when the Vikings came in to destroy everything no one sent and guards or soldiers to fight. So everything got destroyed.

Out of everything, I think the bubonic plague was the worst. It wiped out 20 million people, or 1/4 of the population. Also, if you survived the plague you would be little crazy after.

I think the plague was the worst scenario possible for that timeline which made everything go to crud. It wiped out 1/4 of the population so that means more money to pay for workers that survived. Its a lose-lose for whoever who got infected because the get a little crazy after that.
