I believe that the trade at the time was the most impressive. It supported not only getting goods, but also getting money because of taxing. Though for now today I believe the churches or art would become most impressive to leaving artifacts for us to study.

Kilwa never taxed people on the Indian Ocean trade, you're probably thinking of Ghana. Though you make a good point that trade was extremely vital at this time and age, and without an effective trade system it is very difficult for a civilization to thrive.

Niko D., I agree with you that for that time period there wasn't an effective system of trade so, it is amazing Kilwa thrived. Also, you have to take in the fact through this trade they combined two cultures together.

I do not agree with you Wally. I think that the Great Zimbabwe is the most impressive. I think this because they did not have much knowledge about building stone walls so it is very impressive.

I agree with Julian because they don't have as much knowledge about building yet they created whole stone cities with no straight edges.

I would say that Great Zimbabwe's walls are the most impressive. These Africans built the great stone walls without any knowledge of stone building, all they had were straw huts. Yet they were able to build such tall walls that are still standing today.

I agree that the stone walls were now most impressive. They didn't have a great knowledge on it as you said. The walls are still here so it was one of the best accomplishments.

I am also going to say the walls were the most impressive. The people built it so well that they still stand today. Also they were massive, while the people had know knowledge of walls. I wood not be surprised if they did not build them out of mud!

I agree with you Nick, they would cut with such precision that they wouldn't use concrete like substances at all.

I disagree with Niko that the walls are the most impressive. I think that the walls are the 2nd most impressive. I think the red volcanic rock churches built by Ethiopia are the most impressive.

You make a very good point of people building churches out of volcanic rock. But those were not as high as these walls. They were huge!

I think that Ethiopia's churches were the most impressive because they literally dug into the ground. The only construction materials they ever had to transport was the tools, no materials or anything because they would dig underground and carve inside. I find it fascinating.

I think that the walls of great Zimbabwe are the most impressive of all of those. Great Zimbabwe's massive walls took over 300 years to build. The walls were some 820 feet in circumference and about 36 feet tall at most. This is crazy! By far Great Zimbabwe's walls are the most impressive of any others.

I think that the Great Zimbabwe Stone walls were most impressive because back when they were making the walls it was hard because had no ladders machines to put it together and they didn't use anything to stick it together and it still standing today.

I agree with you Jack B because it did take a long time to make and adding to that by hand no machines to get up there to block the walls with stone.

I find that Ethiopia's volcanic Churches are amazing. They show that they are undivided in their religion and that they were mostly equal in what they believed in. Also the archetestrial developement.

I found all 4 of the African kingdoms to be fascinating. However, I think the stone churches of Ethiopia to be the most impressive. I think it is crazy how they were able to dig their way down 30 or more feet to build/ hollow out a stone church. They made it out of stone due to the lack of building resources, this shows that the Ethiopians were extremely resourceful. A close second for me was Kilwa. Kilwa is cool because they did so much trading that a new culture and language developed that still is used in 2 different countries today. The walls of Great Zimbabwe are cool but everyone builds walls, not everyone builds a stone church into the ground. Finally, the masks and artwork of Benin express cultural ideas but again cannot compete with a church built out of volcanic rock. I am not even sure if there are other underground churches like this in the world. This makes the Ethiopian churches even more unique in my opinion.

I agree that the rock churches of Ethiopia were the most impressive. The churches were built into the ground. This means that the churches were more stable and took up less resources and time to build.

I would have to agree with Sarah and Mr. Kaciuba. It is really impressive how Ethiopia built their churches 30 or more feet under the ground. It is so cool how the churches were built out of volcanic rock as well. However, the most interesting how the churches were built under ground and the people who built it had to dig that deep. it must have taken lots of time. It is smart how they used stone because they didn't have lots of building resources. To conclude, I would have to say that the churches built by Ethiopia are the most interesting.

I think the rock churches of Ethiopia were by far the most interesting. The churches were built into the ground, which means they are very stable and safe from storms. This also means it took less resources to build, because everything they dug up was just used in the building of the church.

In my opinion, the massive volcanic churches were by far the most interesting. This is because it must have been very difficult to get the volcanic rock to build the churches. Also, Ethiopia didn't just have one church, they had many. I think that it is very impressive how the churches were built with volcanic rock. Even today, it is difficult to get volcanic rock to use as a building resources, with all this technology we have; I can only imagine how hard it must have been to gather all that material without good tools and technology. In conclusion, I believe that the volcanic churches built by Ethiopia were the most interesting.

I think that Great Zimbabwe's massive walls are the most impressive. I think this because they were not used to protects people like you think they would be they are used to show the kings power. This is incredible because they "power" they are showing that is the kings is just that he has enough money to pay for the walls.

I think that the Kilwa trade was the most impressive. I think this because this trade not only made them very wealthy but, they combined two cultures together and for that time period in Africa they didn't even speak the same language as other African civilizations. Also, since they didn't speak the same language as other Africans it makes me wonder how they combined with a culture who weren't even from Africa.
