To me one of the biggest reasons Rome fell was because of a weakening army. Rome had hired mercenary's to fight for Rome, but these mercenary's didn't care about Rome. The mercenary's would flee when Rome was losing.

I agree with Romeo. I agree with Romeo because the mercenary's would get paid before the war and if the war didn't look good,or they thought they would loose they would run away with the money

I agree with Romeo since the Mercenaries would run and they were expensive too. They let the invaders into the empire and the Roman empire fell.

Yes, this is true but, what about the plague and famine. That wiped out a huge amount of soldiers. Also the fact that the patricians were hiring soldiers as there body guards which got rid of a ton more of the army.

I agree with you Romeo because the mercenarys were not loyal to Rome and would run away when the battle wasn't going good for them. The mercenarys would also get paid before battle so if they ran away Rome just gave free money out.

I think the biggest reason Rome fell was because it was to big. Because it was to big, they only put their soldiers around the boarder. Even then, they had to pay mercenaries to fight for them. Over all, I belive Rome was to big, and that is why it fell.

I agree with Anya and Romeo. The army thing was not a good idea because Rome hired people that can care less about Rome. You never know, the people that weren't from Rome can turn their backs or loyalty on Rome.

I definitely agree with you Anya. Rome was way to large, it stretched into parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe. It also circled the entire Mediterranean Sea. I also agree with how you said it was so big they only had an army around the borders which made it easy to get passed. In my opinion I would also think this is the main reason why Rome fell.

I agree with you Anya, because people couldn't be everywhere at once. So how huge it was really effected it.

I agree with Anya, because it was so big it was hard to protect, it also cost a lot. Another reason why Rome being to big lead to Rome's fall, was because it was so hard to govern. Even one half was hard to govern!

I think the biggest reason why Rome fell was the cause other their Empire system. They have a ruler/leader. Then once that leader dies in whatever way, shape, or form, Rome needs a new ruler. Rome doesn't vote for a new leader so any random patrician or rich citizen of Rome can say they are the new leader. But because of that people get jealous and fight even kill to be the ruler which makes the population go down.

I can understand why this is the biggest reason to you. What if it fell when Rome voted for their leaders? That probably would have affected Rome differently, maybe Rome may not have fallen at all.

I agree with you Delaney. But one thing that is confusing me is that wouldn't it be good if the population went down. Rome is huge I don't think that 70 rulers being killed will affect Rome. But I agree that the system was out of control

I think the main reason Rome fell was due to its size. This meant the emperor had to try and control the huge place. So this is why is was split. Though this still led to the Fall of Rome.

Rome taking over three continents which is all the land around the Mediterranean Sea is the biggest reason to me. Rome being so big caused then to have weaker defenses and shortage on money. The economy was affected by Rome's size. Once tribes got past the walls surrounding Rome they were inside of Rome and were able to move around freely. Rome being so huge lead to many of the other problems that caused Rome to fall.

I think the same thing because the emperor had to rule the whole city of rome and it was huge. To me if it spreads around 3 different continetnts then it was way to big.

I think one of the main reasons why Rome fell is because of the bad leadership. Why i think bad leadership had a big impact on Rome is because they didn't care about the people they were very selfish, they used the tax money to throw parties.

I agree Jasmine , because they didn't take responsibly in what they really needed so people complained because they getting enough pay. The money they were using was supposed to go towards paying the army and to feed them too. It should of gone to the poor and used for hospital payments for the citizens and the army.

I think that Rome hiring foreign mercenaries is the biggest reason since if the battle would be lost, they would flee, and let the invaders come into the Roman Empire. That also caused a big money shortage since their price is high. When the Visigoths came close to Rome, the Romans did not have enough money to pay them so they fell.

I agree with Emmanuel because this is probably one of the main reasons Rome's army weakened. The weren't loyal and that money was going to waste.

I think the biggest reason why rome fell is that it was to big. Back then there was no planes or phones so it was hard to messsage people. Before it was divided it was really hard to govern. as well. But the main reason to me why rome fell is that it was really really huge.

I think the biggest reason why Rome fell was because they had an a weakening army and because of there bad leadership . Also they hired mercenaries that didn't care about Rome and as soon as Rome was losing a war they would just run away. Plus they didn't have electronics so it took long to deliver a messag. Rome also fell because of its massive size. Rome's emperors threw parties instead of taking responsibility of what they needed.

I think the biggest reason why it fell was because of bad leadership. I think its bad leadership because when there is a bad leader there is also a chain reaction of craziness. First, the leader does not pay the soldiers in the army or use the taxes for what is right, which leads to people being upset and just surrendering in war. Also, there system of finding a new leader was out of control more and more leaders were being killed just because people thought it was unfair to just step in and be the ruler or kill someone to be the ruler.

I agree with you Angelina because the leaders were throwing parties and other us less stuff like that. Since they were doing that they did not have the money to pay for armies.

I think the biggest reason Rome fell was the fact that Rome was so big. I think this is because they couldn't protect all that land. All they did was conquer more and more land, so much other enemy's would settle there and they didn't know. Most of the defenses only protected the edges.

I agree with you Jack . The size really weakened it. Even though they split and reunited it, it still fell. Many reasons made it fall but this was definitely the biggest.

I think the biggest reason Rome fell was because The land was split into two and the East got the rich and the west got the poor. So because there were poor in Rome they were not getting the money they needed to for armies and other supplies. That is the biggest reason why Rome fell.

I think that the biggest reason Rome fell was because.it was too big. This was a problem for Rome because they didn't have good communication. No phones,No Tech,No transportation beside horseback.Rome surrounded the entire Mediterranean Sea.they didn't have enough soldiers, so they could only be posted on borders,so once an attacker got in they had free run over Rome!!!

I think the main reason Rome fell was because of bad leadership. Rome depended on its leaders when the leaders made selfish delicious instead of thinking of the people. The were dishonest and only cared for themselves. There was no real way to choose the next leader so there's was a lot of confusion and assassination. Also, since the leaders stole tax money for parties this took away from army repair or defense. This made the army weaken. I do agree that it was also too big but the leaders could have changed this or helped it. I'm not saying that he leaders could have changed all the problems in Rome but they could have avoided them or helped them leading Rome to be less likely to fall. That's why I think the biggest reason was poor leadership.

I think the biggest reason Rome fell because it was to big. Since Rome covered around the whole Mediterranean Sea it was hard to communicate with other parts of Rome. It would also be hard for the Emperors to controll all of Rome.

I feel that the biggest reason Rome fell was bad leadership. Since the patricians were stealing money, they didn't have as much to pay for weapons that would have helped increase their army for battles. Plus, even if they did things to help, they would have a chance of being assassinated because there was no way to choose the next emperor. 20 out of 23 emperors were assassinated in 73 years!

I think one of the main reasons why Rome fell is because of flat out bad leadership from many corrupt emperor that raised tax cost to only benefit themselves.
