If Mansa Musa never made that pilgrimage nobody would have known about his dynasty, and people wouldn't know about his gold. He would not make any trades, and would probably vanish without anyone knowing it

Yes Abby, I do strongly agree with you. They would also make allies with foreign traders and make separate trade routes with them.

I agree with you Abby. Without his pilgrimage to Mecca, there wouldn't be new trade routes and people wouldn't know about this small empire.

I agree with Abby because if Mansa Musa did not make that travel to Mecca, nobody would know that they existed. Also they would not know how wealthy West Africa was.

Abby, can you explain your reasoning a little further. Like, how would the dynasty vanish?

I think this my have changed West African history because it wouldn't have shown others how rich they were. Also, they would have too much gold. Therefore, other civilizations would attack them and become more rich.

I agree with Luke if he never did this no one would know they had a ton of gold they would have just died with a lot of gold and no one would know about it.They would have been really wealthy but have no one to trade with.

I agree with Luke Z. Having a lot of gold didn't matter if they didn't have anyone to trade it with. Going on that pilgrimage put Mali on the map and opened up trade routes, so if he hadn't gone, none of those trade routes would have opened up.

I agree luke. Most likely Mali would have crumbled, partially because no one knew who they were, and partially because they probably would've gotten robbed

If Mansa Musa had never gone to Mecca, perhaps Europeans would never known that Mali existed. After Musa did go to Mali, he opened up trade routes with the Arabs and Europeans, making Mali even more wealthy and powerful. If Mansa Musa had never gone to Mecca, the Empire would have surely declined immediatly.

I agree. If he did not go his empire would have fallen. The kingdom would crumble with out the resources.

I agree also, because without trade you would die without your needs. Trade can make or break a civilization. But in Mali's case they had valuable gold to trade which Europeans and Muslims traded for.

It would have affected Western Africa a lot. Western Africa would have no people to trade with, and nobody knowing about them. This would have caused people to think that there is nothing but the Sahara for much longer.

I agree with you Pablo. Nobody would know about West Africa. then that means nobody would trade with them. Then that means the empires fall in a short time.

I would have changed West African history because it would not have showed the wealth that West Africa had. Also nobody would have known that their was something beyond the Sahara. The travel to Mecca showed the wealth of West Africa to a bunch if different civilizations and without that travel they would not know they existed.

I think this would have changed West African history. If Mansa Musa did not make his pilgrimage to Mecca, then new trade routes would've never been made or the Empire of Mali would've never been known by other people. He would've also never improved buildings if he din't bring back builders from Spain. Without his pilgrimage to Mecca, these things would not exist and the Empire of Mali would not be known.

If Mansa Musa didn't take his pilgrimage to Mecca, nobody would know about West Africa's gold. Also, nobody would know about West Africa because nobody thought there was anything else across the Sahara. Also, if Mansa Musu didn't go, Islam wouldn't have spread throughout West Africa.

If he did not make this journey then no one would know about him. They would not know that he had gold and other riches. Also trade routes would not be established.

This is a tough question because there are so man different out comes that could have happened. Maybe other kings would have made the same journey or other conquers might have come up and took control of the trade routes. What I do know is that it would have taken longer for people to learn about the riches of Africa & maybe the religion of Islam would not have spread as rapidly.

I think that if Mansa Musa didn't take his pilgrimage to Mecca Africa would not have shared their wealth with others and trade would have not been established. Also Egypt's economy would not collapse and they could have conquered a lot of land and then our country could be mainly polytheistic.

If Mansa Musa didn't go on a pilgrimage to Mecca then no one would've known about them and there would be no trade of ideas and culture. Africa would be even more behind on new technology.

If he hadn't made the pilgrimage to Mecca, people wouldn't have known that they existed. There would have been barely any trade there. Also, Egypt wouldn't have collapsed because his trip caused that. They would have been super behind on technology because they learned about most of that stuff from trade and wars. But if no one knew that they existed, no one would have fought or traded with them so that wouldn't have learned about any of that stuffl

I think it would have changed because people wouldn't know that Mecca was rich. This would have affected trade. Many people wouldn't trade with them as much.

I think of Mansa Musa didn't take his pilgrimage to Mecca we wouldn't know about Africa. Why?well because when we learned about it we learned that it put Africa on the map. Also,we learned that people were surprised that their was somthing on the other side of the Sahara dessert so if Mansa muse didn't take his pilgrimage to Mecca we wouldn't know about Africa.

I think Africa would be even more behind in technology, because they wouldn't get so much trade and they might have never found some things. That or Frica could have never been explored past the Sahara and then no one would know what's there. Mali would most likley lasted longer because no one wanted the gold.
