I believe that the republic would not be in Rome if Caeser would not have declared himself dictator. I believe this because somebody else is bound to come along and do that same thing and kill off the republic.

I agree with Nathan because Julius Caeser basically broke what a republic is and declared himself dictator. I think the republic would have lasted longer, but somebody would have done the exact same thing.

I totally agree with Ty. Someone most likely would have done the same thing. Also, becoming dictator for life broke the republic. What if one of his friends did it instead, like one of the guys in the senate?

I do agree because I'm sure another roman would have come along and do the same thing. It might not be for another few years but I'm sure it would happen.

I think that the republic would not still be in Rome even if Julius Caeser didn't exist. However, I do think that it would have lasted a while until someone else decided to become king/ dictator again. The republic ended up ending because Caeser declared himself dictator for life, and other people would not have been able to repress that urge either.

I agree with Tiffany. If someone else became dictator after Caesar's death, the Republic would probably still be in Rome. Caesar's death caused the Republic to decline in many ways.

I agree with Tiffany. Like I said, nothing lasts forever so eventually the republic would end. It just varies in the way it does end.

I think the republic wouldn't be in Rome if Julius Caeser did not exist. I do think though, even if Julius doesn't exist, that the republic would have lasted longer than it did. It would probably end when someone else decides themselves that they are dictator.

I agree with Riley. If Julius didn't exist then the republic wouldn't be in rome, and a new dictator would rise. But I have a feeling they would be murdered just like Caesar was

I agree. It can't be that Julius Caesar was the only man who had power and popularity. I'm sure some other general would and could made themselves dictator.

I see that alot of you kids are saying the Republic would have fallen regardless if Caesar took over or not because someone else would have declared them self a dictator/king. With that mind set, does that mean the government we have in the United States (Democratic Republic) will end as well?

I think the Roman Republic would have still existed if Julius Caesar did not exist because when Julius Caesar existed the senates killed him to save the Republic. Why? because he acted too much like a king and named his self dictator for life. Also he helped the plebeians and it was like the patricians had no power any more.

I disagree with Marlena, I think that the Plebeians would come up with some sort of way to get rid of the Republic, even though it would take a long time. Also someone else could do the same thing Julius Caesar did and name themselves dictator for life.

I think the Roman Republic would not of fallen. I think this because when Julius Caesar declared himself dictator for life, he was basically saying i'm your king/ruler. I believe the republic would have lasted longer without Julius Caesar.

I think that the Roman Republic would have not ended if Julius Caesar. The republic would have not ended because without Julius, Augustus would not be adopted and not become emperor, so there would be no empire meaning the republic could've stayed.

I agree on this Pablo. If Caesar didn't exist, then Augustus being an emperor would've never happened. The Patricians would get even more land, and even more wealth. This was made fair between both groups by Caesar and without his role of person, the Roman Republic could've stayed longer, could've been better, until someone would do the same as Caesar or Rome could've gotten conquered.

I agree with Matthew, the patricians would be more rich and no one would have balanced the injustice. The republic would also have stayed longer and someone would have the same as Julius, but would the new person be kind to the plebians

Like I was saying in my comment to Pablo, if Julius Caesar didn't exist, then probably would have lasted until someone did the same thing as Caesar, or until Rome with their republic got conquered. Caesar made it fair between Plebeians and Patricians. If Caesar didn't exist, then the groups would still be unbalanced. The Patricians would own most land, and be even more wealthy. If Caesar didn't exist then his adopted son, Augustus would have never became emperor. If Caesar didn't exist then there could've been a chance the present day today would be totally different.

I think it would not have fallen because they had other people to control . If Caesar wasn't killed Rome could have fallen since he might of took all power

But like I was saying to David, the Republic still should have been there because somebody else would have become leader. It was such a strange thing for Caesar to name himself "Dictator for life" That was out of the blue and I don't think that if there were leaders instead of Caesar, I don't think that they would have names themselves 'Dictator for life"

The Roman republic would still be the same if Julius Caesar doesn't exist. If the republic is still the same, that means the empire will not exist at all with Augustus starting the Roman empire after Julius Caesar being stabbed to death by the senate. The Roman republic will still be existed if Julius Caesar didn't existed in Rome.

If Julius didn't exist I'm sure something would happen. It might not be the same as what Julius did but it would be bound to end.If no one did do what Julius did I bet it would end by Gaul or another battle.

I think that if any body decided to become dictator after Julius Caesar was killed, the republic would still be in Rome. Of course, it would not be the same as it was when Julius was dictator, but it was mostly the senate's fault for killing Julius, causing them to drag down the Republic.

I think the republic would not have ended that early if Julius Caesar did not exist but would have eventually ended before today. The republic would have went on a while longer because if the senate would have not tried to save Rome, or thought they tried to save it, it would have survived longer because there would be no mad plebeians starting riots.

Eventually yes, the republic would have ended with or without Caesar. I know that something does not last forever. Even if Julius was never born, something or someone would of, overtime, destroyed the republic.

I agree with Izzy. Nothing lasts forever. She makes a good point by saying that something would destroy the republic, because it doesn't necessarily have to be a person that could have ended up ruining it.A big event could have happened that would have resulted in the republic being destroyed.

Honestly, even if Julius Caesar didn't exist, the republic would've ended anyway. Someone else could or couldn't have done that, but the empire would have happened later in life. But, this would change history, so it would have been bad.

The Republic ended after Caesar was killed by the Senate. If anyone became dictator after Julius Caesar there would still be a Republic.
