I think the best empire was Ghana because they thrived with gold, salt and gave out gold to other empires to show how welthy they were. Also Ghana thrived with their econemy.

Actually Mali gave out the free gold to the Arabians. Mansa Musa gave free gold which led traders to west Africa.

I appreciate that Ghana started the gold and salt trade which allowed for the other 2 West African Kingdoms to thrive. But I think Mali was the most successful because they are the ones who made the rest of the world aware of their existence. This opened up trade routes with Asia and Europe.

I say Mali because if it werent't for Mansa Musa west Africa would be way poorer. Mansa Musa traveled to Mecca in the Arabian Peninsula giving free gold. This showed kingdoms how rich west Africa was and that there actually was something below the Sahara. It put Africa "on the map."

I believe Mali was the best. I believe it was the best because Mansa Musa went up near Egypt just giving gold. With this gold being given all of the civilizations could see how wealthy this empire was. But when Mansa Musa son took over the empire started to die out and the Songhai empire was becoming more wealthy.

This is exactly what I thought. The pilgrimage to Mecca really improved Mali and brought them above the other kingdoms to me. Mansa Musa was a great king (great minds think alike :))

I think the Ghana because as the trade increased they began to tax Merchants so that wouldn't use there trade routes for free. Also that made them very wealthy so more traders would trade with them.

All the kingdoms had the gold and salt trade so that does not make Ghana any different than any other empire. But they are the ones who started it!

I think that Ghana was the most powerful kingdom because they were placed in the perfect spot to thrive. They were smart with their decisions because they taxed twice and since they were one of the earlier kingdoms so the other tribes weren't the best.

I agree with you Valon because I also thought it was smart of them to tax twice. They were also placed in between the Sahara and a forest so trade increased.

I think the most important of them all was Ghana. Ghana was mainly the most important because established the gold and salt trade. If it were not for them the gold and salt trade may have never been made. It also started pretty much how the west african culture began

I think the most successful kingdom was Mali. I think Mali was successful because when Mansa Musa went to Mecca he brought a lot of gold to give out. Then more people wanted to trade with Mali. So since more people wanted to trade with Mali, Mali had to make more trade routes.

I think Ghana was the most successful kingdom. I think this because Ghana was in a great place to trade. Trade increased so they started to tax every trader that came in.This way Ghana became rich and had lots of power.

I think that Mali was the best. They were the ones who showed the rest of the world how "wealthy" they were. Mansa Munsa showed everyone that they have a LOT of gold. Especially when he just gave a lot out for FREE. This helped improve trade.

In my opinion, Mali was the most successful west African kingdom. The biggest reason was Mansa Musa's pilgrimage to Mecca. He brought many people back to Mali whom significantly improved the way they did things. Also he let people know that there was a rich Kingdom below the Sahara desert. This brought much more trade to Mali. Ultimately, I think Mali was the most successful West African Kingdom.
