To me all of the empires were the same, success wise. I think this because they were in the same general location. All empires controlled the gold and salt trade routes. Once the empires lost control of the trade route they fell.

I agree with Alex. I also believe they were all equal. It's true that all of the empires fell when they lost the trade routes. Also I agree that they all had plentiful gold and needed salt.

That is true Alex but some Empires made changes not all of them were exactly the same. What about Mansa Musa in Mali you think that he didn't do anything when he built schools so children could learn to read. What about Mansa Musa making Mali increased trade because he traveled to Mecca and gave free gold.

I think Mali was the best one. I think this because of Mansa Musa's rule, he brought thousands of people, (slaves, musicians, teachers, etc.) and lots of camels with gold on them. He gave out the gold to random people, which increased the worlds knowledge on how rich Western Africa was. And with the teachers, he spread knowledge of Africa and Islam.

I agree with you Izzy S. I agree with you because, I also believe that the Mali Empire was the most successful. I also agree with you because, Mansa Musa did hand out gold to everybody that he saw which showed people that there was more than just the Sahara Desert. I also agree with you because, Mansa Musa brought teachers with him as well, so now he can teach all of his citizens and they, can learn.

I agree with Izzy because nobody knew about West Africa until Mansa Musa. He put West Africa on the map. Today West Africa is a big deal and if it weren't for Mansa Musa,it wouldn't be anything. Also, he brought slaves, teachers, musicians along wit him to Mecca.

I think that Mali was the most successful because Mansa Musa put West Africa on the map because most people didn't think that their was anything under the Sahara so when Mansa Musa went on his pilgrimage to Mecca he gave free gold to everyone and because of this trading went up. Another thing is that Mansa Musa built mosques, schools, and librarys so everyone could read the Koran.

I believe that the Mali Empire was the most successful. I think so because when they taxed the traders going in and out they got very wealthy. Their emperor, Mansa Musa built more buildings for the people and he also set out on pilgrimages, like to Mecca. By doing so, more Muslim traders went to Mali and the empire flourished. This is why I think the Mali Empire was the most successful Empire.

Mali was very successful because they are the ones who made the rest of the world aware of their existence. This opened up trade routes with Asia and Europe. But Ghana started the gold and salt trade which allowed for the other 2 West African Kingdoms to thrive. If it wasn't for Ghana, Mali may have never existed.

I agree with Sebastian. Taxing traders to get in and out was very smart idea and when they became wealthy more people traded with them.

I think that the Mali Empire was the most successful because of the ruler Mansa Musa. Musa converted to Islam. Because of this, Mansa Musa had to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca. This is one reason that caused Mansa Musa to be seen as a wealthy Muslim leader. With the abundance of gold that West Africa had. Mansa Musa gave free gold and gifts to the people he met. He also made alliances with different kingdoms. Thus causing trade routes. With people and rulers knowing that Africa had a lot of gold, merchants started trading with Africa. And when traders came, they were taxed for using african trade routes.

I think Mali was the most successful empire. I think that this was the most successful emperor because of Mansa Musa. Mansa Musa put Mali on the map when he went on his pilgrimage to Mecca. When he was traveling to Mecca, he gave people free gold and now people wanted to get some of the gold for there own. He also built schools, and mosques.

I believe that the Mali Empire was the most successful. I believe this because, the Mali Empire thrived in most of its time. When Mansa Musa went to Mecca, he gave out gold to everybody that he saw. Since Mansa Musa did this, he put the Mali Empire on the map (made the Mali Empire known). People then found out that there was more than just the Sahara Desert. Now that people knew about the Mali Empire, more people and traders came to the Mali Empire. The Mali Empire was now receiving more goods and more money now that more people came in to the Mali Empire. Mansa Musa also built schools and Mosque for his subjects. Now people in West Africa can learn more and solve more things that they were not able to solve before, people could even build more things now that they can get an education. That is why I believe that the Mali Empire was the most successful.

I believe Mali was the most success. I believe this because they traded salt for gold which was a major part because they needed the salt to survive. But on the other hand with gold that you don't really need. It is just for money and they did not need money to survive.

I think Mali was the most successful. I think this because When mansa musa went on his pilgrimage to mecca he showed people how powerful and rich Mali was. When people got gold from him and say how many slaves and musicians and other things he brought they saw how powerful and rich Mali really was. It improved trade for Mali and made it very successful.
