I think the most interesting thing in the Africa unit is the Gold for Salt trade and just trading in general. The least Interesting thing is learning about the Songhai because there was very little about it.

Tyler, I definitely thought the unique trade of gold for salt made in West African kingdoms was interesting. At the beginning of this unit I was one who really thought this was such a drastically unfair trade. But after Mr. Kaciuba explained salt's extraordinary uses, I was a fan of the gold for salt trade. Some of the uses included preserving food, providing essential nutrients, or flavor.

I enjoyed our Africa unit a lot, but there was one thing I did not enjoy learning, the animal on animal cruelty. In the beginning of the unit Mr. Kaciuba showed us the video with the lions and buffalo and crocodile. It was kinda sad but it did show the strength of a pack. I really liked learning about the West African gold for salt trade. It was so intresting to learn about a trade that seams so unfair. But the trade turned out to be so useful!

i agree with Sofie that the animal cruelty was not fun to learn about. All animals have to hunt and fight but the videos we saw were very sad. Though, as Sofie said, these videos did show the strength of the pack. I also enjoyed learning about the salt and gold trade because it showed that the Africans cared about their nutrition, not just their riches.

I think that the most interesting thing that we learned about during the African unit was the gold and salt trade. I think that the gold and salt trade was the most interesting because nowadays that would be an unfair trade, but back then it was a fair trade. The thing that I thought was the least interesting was the Songhai because their wasn't that much to learn about.

I agree Jake, I did find it unusual at first why they were trading salt and gold. After learned I knew they had silent barter for salt and gold because salt would preserve food, add flavor, and it is a good part of your healthy diet.

I think the most interesting part is the eastern, southern and central parts of Africa. They had so many diverse ideas and made them out of the very little resources they had. Like the churches they dug them out with shovels and picks.

I agree with Marissa. I agree because that trade would be unfair today, because the value of gold is a lot higher than salt.

I agree with Marissa. It was interesting learning about how today we don't pay nearly as much as people used to pay for salt. Also the least interesting was the Songhai dynasty bescase there was very little detail about it.

I think that the most interesting thing in the African unit was gold for salt trade because it was unusual then other trades . The least interesting was learning about the Songhi dynasty because we really learned nothing about and because their was nothing so interesting about them . This is what was my most interesting thing and least interesting thing about the African unit.

I agree with Madisyn, because it was a very interesting trade and unlike the others. Which made it fun to learn about. I also agree that Songhai was the least interesting because their was no exciting information about them.

I agree with Madisyn learning about salt for gold was the most interesting. It is a very unusual trade to us because we have really always know gold as something high valued and expensive. We have know Salt as just part of your food, but it was much more valued back then. I also agree that the Songhai dynasty was my least favorite thing to learn about because there wasn't really anything fascinating and we didn't learn very much about it.

I think the most interesting part of the Africa unit was the gold for salt trade. I think that because you wouldn't think that people would trade gold for salt with no knowledge of Africa. That does not make sense today because we have an abundance of salt, and fridges and freezers.

The least interesting part of the unit was silent trade. I find that the least interesting because, there is not much to know about it. People have always found ways to get around speaking different languages in history, so it was not unique to Africa.

I think the most interesting thing was the trade. I loved learning about this because, it's salt!!! Who trades gold for salt. Also I do like to trade things, like I have a quarter collection from every state, and if I get 2 of the same ones, I will trade with someone. The least interesting for me was hard to choose, I think the least was learning about the Sahara, even though we didn't focus on it much, I thought the Sahara was boring and mainly because all it is is sand, it's really boring, well, that's my opinion.

I think the most interesting thing we learned about what the salt and gold trade. This is because their was so much more to it than just here's some salt here's some gold, their was a lot of very interesting information in the salt and gold trade. The least interesting was the Songhai in my opinion. Their was not any extra exciting information in the Songhai dynasty.

I agree, trade in general was very interesting, and I enjoyed playing the "silent barter" game to learn more about it. And, Songhai wasn't the most exciting dynasty to learn about compared to the other dynasties.

I think that the most interesting part about Africa was the salt and gold trade. It's really interesting that they were of equal value back then, when they are polar opposites in terms of value nowadays. It's always very interesting to learn about the differences from a long time ago to modern day.

I think the most interesting thing we learned about in the Africa unit was the salt for gold or the gold for salt trade. This trade showed the power salt had back then because it was so rare. It also showed how important nutrition was to the Africans, they did not just care about their riches. The least interesting thing we learned about, ir-my opinion , was the animal cruelty. It was not much fun hearing about how the animals killed each other and ate the other animals babies. It was gross and mean!

I think the most interesting part is the salt and gold trade. That is because nowadays it would never work like that at all. People would say it is unfair and it might cause a riot. The least interesting was the animal cruelty. I mean seriously what is the point of killing animals. I get it if it is to survive but if it is to show that you are the alpha. That is just dumb to me.

I think the most interesting part of Africa was its salt and gold trade. One reason why was the fact that there is nothing like and that it seems outrageously unfair trade but in fact, it was an even deal. What I felt was the had the least amount of interest to me about Africa was difficult to choose. I finally decided it would be Great Zimbabwe's walls. I saw no point in building walls for wealth. If any thing, I would build it for protection.

I think the most interesting part of the Africa unit was the gold and salt trade, because back then salt and gold was an equal trade. It was equal because of what it was good for including preserving your food, adding flavor, and it had nutrients that your body needs in it. if you tryed trading that today you would probably be laughed at. The least interesting part was learning about the Songhai because we didn't learn much about it.
