I think that it is bad and good for the country to adopt isolationism. It is good because you will not get influenced by other countries. It is bad because you will be way behind on technology.

I agree that it is good and bad. The good outcomes are that during war you are better protected from other places. And the bad parts are if new technology is made and you don't find out a country is a step ahead making you weaker.

I agree with you Wally on, "you are protected from other places." But on your second part, "you don't find out a country is a step ahead making you weaker." What if you invent something to help someone else? Would you still keep the policy of isolationism?

I agree, Julian while it has benefits, such as that there will be peace and prosperity, there are still some cons to the policy. For one you will be cut off from trade and will be behind in tech. Also you will possible lose allies over time. So overall the Policy of Isolationism is a bad thing

I think it can be good and bad. The good parts are that if you isolate your country then you are better protected from spies or invaders and you are also protecting your religion from being changed. On the other hand the downside is that if new technology is made and you don't trade of find it you country is a step behind. So to wrap it together if there was a crisis do it but if not do not isolate your country.

I disagree and agree. I agree that it is bad but I disagree that it can be good. I think it would just push other culture away.

I think it is not good for a country to adopt isolationism because the country can't adopt other countries culture because they push all others away so then they won't be as advanced as all other cultures.

I agree that a country shouldn't have a policy of isolation. They would quickly fall behind in technology. Just look what happened to Japan.

While I agree that is primarily bad, t doesn't mean you shouldn't. There still are some pros otherwise nobody would do it. Such as how nobody will attack you because you haven't provoked them. Also you will not have to deal with diseases that spread through immigration and trade. Stay a bit more open minded;)

I think it is good and bad at the same time. The good part is that if your country adopts the policy of isolationism, then if you invent something, like the Chinese with gunpowder, other cultures will not know about it. The bad part is that if other countries invent something new, then you will not learn about it. It has pros and cons like I said earlier.

But you have to choose one or the other, so with this information come to a conclusion on whether or not you would adopt isolation or not.

Alot of you are saying its good and bad, which I agree with. But unfortunately, you guys/girls are not picking a side. A country does not have the luxury to pick both sides. Its one or the other. So in my opinion, I would not adopt the policy of isolationism. The main reason for this is because I think it is important to have trade goods from different areas. Also, I think though interaction with other countries important ideas and concepts are learned which will advance the country.

I definitely agree with you Mr. Kaciuba. I think it is better to interact with other countries and learn new concepts. I believe that trading with other countries is very important because you learn about new inventions and important ideas/ concepts.

I agree that a country can't choose both sides. You would not be able to learn from the mistakes of other cultures.

I think its bad for a country to adopt isolation because if a other country in go to attack the people will not know what the enemy s have.

Although both ways have their pros and cons, I rather not adopt a policy of isolation. If you do then you would not have the ability to trade with other countries to learn new inventions and new cultures, and if you keep the policy for decades then you will most likely be behind technologically with every other country.

Niko I completely agree with what you are trying to say. Pretty much, for lack of better words, if you go into isolationism, you're more likely going to suffer the consequences, than enjoy the rewards.

I think that it is both good and bad. Good because nothing will really influence your culture. Bad because that country will have no idea about how much the rest of the world has advanced. That country will not have the technology that the rest of the world will. If I had to choose though, then I would think that it is better not to adopt the policy of isolationism.

I don't think that a country should have a policy of isolation. Even if they did, they shouldn't keep it for long. The country would quickly fall behind in technology, and could be easily overtaken. Think about what happened to Japan.

I agree with you Sarah S. I say this because the country will quickly fall behind on technology. Also, it will bee taken over easily because of that.

I agree that isolationism stops from falling behind inventions, although some countries need isolationism if they need a break from things for a example wars.

I think that if a country adopts a policy of isolationism it is bad for the country. I think that the consequences either 100% bad or 75% good. So, I think that the bad qualities outweigh the good qualities.

I think that it would be worse to adopt the policy of isolationism because it would cause you to take more time to create better inventions, etc. It would be bad to block everyone out of the world.

I think that isolationism is bad policy. 1 reason is you don't get the new technology for example, transportation , and warfare. another reason is improvements in farming and every day life. Finally, you would miss out on all of the new medicine and healing wounds.

I think it depends on the situation, if your country is ahead of its time in technology, then maybe isolationism is right for you. However, if I were to rule a country I would not proceed with isolationism because if you hear an idea, and think it's bad, don't take it into your hands as a ruler. If you do not like a trade offer, do not accept it.
