I thought that the most interesting part of our Africa unit was the trading lesson. The fact that people didn't even meet each other when they traded was pretty cool. I also though that the salt and gold trade was interesting. It seems so stupid to us now, because we have salt, and we don't need gold. Another trade thing was that a whole language/culture (Swahili) developed because of trade.

I agree with you Tiffany, the trading unit was pretty interesting unit. Not only were we taught about it, but we interacted with it. The trading game helped us understand it more as a subject.

I agree with you Tiffany. I also thought it was amazing that they didn't talk to each other was amazing. Wasn't that called silent bardering?

I thought that the least interesting part (or my least favorite part) was the geography and vocab lesson. While it was interesting, it was kind of a boring day, and there were other lessons that were more fun and more interesting.

I believe that the trading unit was he most interesting unit we did. The gold and salt trades were interesting to learn about. I didn't expect that salt would be more valuable that gold, since gold isn't even naturally made. You can get salt anywhere now, but back then it was super important in Africa. I understood why after this unit.

I agree with Abby. The fact that salt was more or even equally valuable to gold was really surprising. This unit was really helpful to understanding about trade.

I agree also because I would have never thought gold and salt were equal value, because in restaurants they have salt complimentary. Also gold you don't find in salt shakers in restaurants.

I agree with you Abby. The trading was so unique and I enjoyed interacting with the game that gave the class an idea of how the trading was done.

I thought that the trade lesson was the best because it was interesting how they could trade without communicating directly. I would have never thought of trading like this. I learned a lot about how people got what they needed.

I think the trading part because they traded with no sound. Now we communicate with each other. We need to communicate now because their is diffrent things to trade and their value.

I agree Aiden, how value has changed and we developed language, we need to communicate for a fair trade. Since there was no sound, it was nearly impossible to create fair value, and since there was no contact at all, that made bad parts though they found a way to work out the trade. Though no contact makes the value off fair pricing, since it's impossible to develop when you can't communicate or make contact.

I found the trade system, or atleast the silent barder. The salt for gold trade was an interestingly crazy type of trade. The salt did help preserve food, give flavor as well as nutrition. Though trading gold for the salt was a little too much. I bet that people were cheated and never were trusted again. It's just that the trades, in my opinion, were interesting, yet seem like people were getting cheated.

I think the trade lesson was the most interesting part. Why you may ask? It was cool to learn that people had to trade without communicating. It was also interesting to learn about needs and wants.

The reason why I think gold and salt trade was important because they needed salt to live. The reason why trade was least important is because really 90% of trade is wants instead of needs.

I would have to agree with you Riley. The trade was very interesting to learn about. From the needs and wants... I also enjoyed playing the role play game. Although, it was difficult when we weren't allowed to talk to other groups.

I thought the most important part in the Africa unit was the trade. I think it's the most important because people didn't have to speak to trade with each other. Also how they used to think that 1 pound of gold was equal to 1 pound of salt, which now we know that it was a total rip off.

I also think that the trading part of this unit was the best, and how much of a ripoff the salt, and gold trade was.

My favorite part of the African unit was probably the silent barter. It's my favorite part because I love the idea of silent trading. My least favorite part of the african unit was probably the gold and salt trade because 1 lb of salt is 1 lb of gold, total ripoff.

I think the gold and salt trade was my favorite because without salt most of your food would spoil. It was a good experience learning how it worked. I didn't like the silent barter because you had to only talk to your kingdom and was very hard to not talk to the other kingdoms.

I found it really intresting that salt and gold were both really important trades, gold did surprise me as much as salt but it was still a shock. Now salt is pretty useless and no one really needs it. In fact I think if you tried to trade salt and gold people would laugh at you.

I found the silent bardering the most interesting. This was awesome because of the fact that they didn't even talk to each other. I wonder if they would get into trouble if they spoke with each other. I thought that the trade deal that one pound of salt is equal to one pound of gold. I thought that was a bad deal because one pound of gold today is like 10,000 dollars compared to a pound of salt is about two dollars.

I thought the most interesting thing was the trading. This captured my attention amd was so cool how they traded silently without talking! Today, none of that would even occur since gold is more valuable than salt and no one would trade like that today.

The most interesting part of the Africa unit, would have to be trade in my opinion. I enjoyed learning about the different needs and wants of different tribes. It was really amazing how people traded. Silent barbering is a very smart way to communicate when different tribes did not speak the same language.

I think that the most interesting thing was learning about the different little kingdoms like Benin, Ethiopia, Kilwa, and Great Zimbabwe's different accomplishments and history. The least interesting thing to me was the vocabulary and geography.

(this part is suppose to be together with the first part of my response)Learning about the different kingdoms was my favorite because they are diverse. It's amazing to know some of the things they accomplished like making a new culture, Swahili.

I believe that the trading part of Africa was the most interesting. Not only was it because trade devoleped a culture, Swahili, but because of the way Africans traded. Silent barding was a really creative way of solving the problem of multiple languages. I think that the least interesting part of the unit was the climate zone part. The information about each climate zone was pretty basic, not that I didn't learn anything.

The most interesting part of this unit in my opinion was trade. I never would have thought that gold and salt were once equal in value. The least interesting part was learning about the biomes like the desert. I found that I knew most everything that was handed to me.
